Ex nicotine addict here! If there is one thing I regret.....it's smoking. I felt really stupid when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. I had smoked since I was a teenager and had given up 10 years before my diagnosis. I had taken a big chance with my life. I saw it clearly for the first time. It seems it took that, chemo, surgery, radiotherapy to make me realise. If you are or have been a smoker you might understand this mentality. I didn't think it would have any effect on me, I was untouchable. Giving up nicotine is one of the hardest things I've ever done. It feels like there are a million little hooks keeping you in addiction. I have helped people to give up their addiction and I have also had people who were not ready to stop yet. Some hypnotherapists refuse to to treat nicotine addiction because the client has to be really sure they want to quit and it might lower their overall success rate and bruise their ego too.. What I can promise is :
that the final decision to stop is with you.
hypnotherapy is not a magic wand
It may be helpful to discover and explore the triggers and reasons why you smoke like stress, boredom, grief, sadness etc. Giving up smoking might involve more than just stopping and is more effective when you gain understanding of yourself. It can often be a bit more of a journey involving you being vulnerable and willing for change. Are you ready?
